Is there something i can do about my wallet being stolen at walmart?

i went to walmart to pick up some groceries and to put money on a greendot card for my husband who is in the navy and overseas right now. While I'm there I like most women put my wallet in the cart thinking it will be fine I'm not leaving it I bent down to get something off the bottom shelf and my wallet was stolen at that moment the cart was right beside me!! I immediately upon noticing it was missing contacted a floor associate who sent me to customer service who sent me to the manager podium who contacted security who told me to call the police. the security would not speak to me till the police showed up they showed up an hour later just in time they told me to watch the culprit walk out the door. that means this guy was in the store for over an hour with my wallet and money the hour that i had to wait for the police an hour that security could have done something like they would have done if it had been something from their store. I feel that more could have been done for me instead of sending me home with low hopes of ever hearing from them again I feel I was victimized by not only the thief but by walmart.... is there anything I can do? I lost around 800 dollars... bear in mind I was putting the money on a greendot money pak to put on my husbands card you need cash to do that.
