Is tinting headlights and taillights illegal in NSW Australia?

I want to tint my headlights and/or taillights on my Hyundai Excel to make it look remotely good but I was told that it could be illegal, The RTA is closed at the moment so I just want a answer on yahoo. Im probably going to use Night Shade but dont mind buying the plastic if it comes to that. Also someone said that it could be to the level of the tinting and if this is so what amount can I tint it to?
